Fibromyalgia is a familiar expression today. Television and publication advertisements flood our airwaves and glossy pages, increasing public awareness. Some promises cures, while others just proclaim help in alleviating certain symptoms. Well, fourteen years ago, this was definitely not the case. The internet was in its childhood stage (as far as public use) and the barrage of pertinent information that the average person has at his convenience just didn’t exist then. I understand… because fourteen years ago, I had been suffering… and looking for answers. amazon.com
My personal plight back then mimicked those of many others – severe fatigue, muscle and joint pain, minor sore throat and a general steadiness of sense lousy. I remember informing my children and friends, “I wish you could stay in my body first day….. you wouldn’t believe We’ve lived this means for so long! ” At the time, I had developed a two year old and a five year old who expected me to express the vigor and energy they saw from other stay-at-home mothers. I noticed general doctors, specialists, acupuncturists, massage therapists and an array of others who gave me personally a glimmer of trust to recapture my life. Any literature out there at the time was only depressing… the most optimistic headline would read “How I’ve Learned to Cope with Fibromyalgia and Try to Lead a Normal Life for the Last Twenty Years”. Getting together the current information at the time in other words myself in hopeless, negative condition. But, by some miraculous, my luck and disposition would change.
Through some remote channel of friends, I learned about an alternative practice in a neighboring state and made an appointment. My particular doctor (yes, a true medical doctor) was trained in both Eastern and Traditional western medicine and was formerly from Russia… and our first appointment was an entire hour long talk. The tests administered there are none like the hundreds I had previously acquired… saliva test and frizzy hair analysis, in addition to blood, urine and chair and sent to an extremely specialized lab somewhere in the center of the country. While holding out for test results, my body was still suffering, but my spirit, initially, was beginning to treat.
Quality results came again… and the catch-all category of ‘fibromyalgia’ may have actually been incorrect. The condition I had fashioned was adrenal fatigue and systematic Candida, an overgrowth of yeast in the body which can wreak havoc in each major system in the body. Again, back then, nobody ever heard with this, let alone diagnose it. Today, the web by itself, has countless pages dedicated to it. To battle and cure this, I actually met with the dietitian in this holistic practice and was put on an extremely strict diet removing from the total sugar, breads, starches and many, many other things. Basically, the sole thing I could eat was protein, fresh vegetables and the occasional treat of popcorn and grain cakes. I was given numerous supplements to increase my immunity process and change my adrenal function. Finally, my doctor (again, quite some years prior to the curve) told me to get pure Matcha Green Tea Powder due to antioxidants and numerous healing capacities and have the tea two times a day.
Today, 14 years later, I play competitive tennis three times per week and i am in the gym half a dozen times per week since getting certified as a personal trainer. My energy level is high, my stress levels are low and my outlook of all things is always optimistic. I still agitation when I hear the term “fibromyalgia” and envision that’s really what these inflicted people have. We are no longer on a rigid diet (still need my fix of licorice often) now take only two supplements every day. The only regimen I’ve never stopped is drinking my matcha inexperienced tea twice per day – especially because the health benefits go well past the things i thought years ago.
